13th Air Force during the Vietnam War.
"469th Tactical Fighter Squadron" (April 8, 1965 - October 31, 1972).
A souvenir attache case custom-made by "PETER BLALOCK" who was assigned to the squadron headquarters at Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base (November 8, 1965 - October 31, 1972) in Thailand, from 1968 to 1969. A valuable one-of-a-kind item. Hand-painted. The signature on the lower left indicates it was painted in April 1969.
The squadron emblems of the 13th Air Force (front) and the 469th Squadron (back) are original stickers from the time.
This was during the period when they were flying F-105 Thunderchiefs towards North Vietnam.
The material is black resin.
Condition: Fine scratches on the surface, rust on the main latch (a nice, shabby look). The latches on the left and right function properly. The main key is missing.
One of the mounting brackets for the second sub-latch from the left is missing.
The inside is clean, but the base of the button receptacles for storing documents has become brittle due to aging.
Other than that, it is in a condition that is still fully usable. This is also one of the valuable witnesses to history. How about adding it to your collection?
