The first generation Subaru Impreza was born in 1992.
The WRX, the most powerful model set up to compete in the WRC (World Rally Championship), was initially available only as a sedan model, but in 1993, a wagon model was added to the lineup.
In 1994, the WRX STi version, produced by Subaru Tecnica International (STi), was added to the lineup, and the model evolved year by year.
In 1999, the final version VI was reached.
The first generation model had a long life span of about 8 years until the full model change the following year.
