Rare early post-war Guerlain Shalimar Parfum, 30ml Baccarat fan bottle (circa 1947–1950). Features the circular acid-etched Baccarat hallmark and original red/blue “Province et en Belgique” tax label (used only for a few years after WWII). Deep violet-blue Baccarat fan stopper, thick gold Shalimar cloud plaque, and classic early-production details. Height 10.5cm = authentic 30 ml extrait.
The Baccarat hallmark can be seen by looking down into the footed base at a slight angle or by viewing the bottom edge of the import sticker. There are some tiny flea bites at the bottom edge of the base (see photo) which are difficult to see with the naked eye.
Originally launched in 1925, Shalimar (named after the garden in Kashmir built by Indian Shah Jahan in memory of his wife) is one of the first fragrances to incorporate large amounts of vanillin into its composition.
