Fancy formal invitation from the fancy “Sons of the Revolution” fraternal order of their annual de luxe banquet in New York City. This invitation from February 22, 1934 features a print of General George Washington “receiving notice of his election as president.” On the back of this invitation is a print of “Fraunces Tavern,” a 1719 Lower Manhattan tavern that was the place of General Washington’s famous farewell address to his officers. “The Sons of the Revolution” bought this historic tavern in 1904.

Dimensions of this document are: 11 3/4” wide and 9 3/4” tall.

There is a gold seal of this organization in the lower left front under the John Ward Dunsmore picture. There is a gold and blue thread/rope attaching the whole invitation, front and back thick stock paper and two much lighter stock papers for details of this banquet which featured “fillet of bass” and “guinea hen.”

This is a historical document in good condition. Look at pictures for imperfections. It’s 91 years old.
